This bill -1 amendment reduces proposed taxes by fifty-percent to go to the Forestland and County Reserve Fund. Imposes inordinate tax on timber harvest to fund fire suppression, redemption of burned areas, watershed conservation and distribution to counties. Industry needs no further oppression on a struggling industry. Applies to tax years beginning on or after January 1, 2018.

Limited Government
Oregon Small Woodlands Association also partners with Department of Forestry in fire cost management. Past studies done out of the 2013 Wildfire Protection Act proposed concepts on equity of catastrophic wildfire costs, but the legislature ignored them.

Free Markets
Private forest owner are covering for more than their losses and for BLM irresponsible management practices that are causing forest fires. More taxation is a way to keep the forest industry from again becoming viable.
