Judges are the only candidate on the ballot with the title of “Incumbent”. House Rules is sponsoring this committee bill to change Oregon law to remove ‘incumbency’ identifier from the ballot for judges.

This bill takes away the demand for certain judge candidates’ names to be marked as
“incumbent” on a ballot.

    Uninformed voters take the easy way to vote and think the incumbent must be the logical choice.
    Hinders other candidates who can’t add an adjective to their name.
