Sen. Lieber (D, SD-14) and Reps. Campos (D. HD-28) and Schouten (D, HD-27) will be holding a virtual town hall on May 25th from 5:30-6:30pm to discuss the progress of this session, budget updates, etc. Register here to receive Zoom details.,
Here’s some bills Sen. Lieber is sponsoring and has been working hard to get them passed – via her email update:
- SB 704: This bill bans the use of LGBT+ Panic Defenses in Oregon. It is an important step to making sure Oregon is a place where everyone can feel safe and thrive. This bill has passed both chambers and now heads to the Governor to be signed into law.
- HB 2475 – The Energy Affordability Act: This bill will expand the ability of the Public Utility Commission to establish rate classifications for low income and energy burdened households, make energy more affordable for Oregonians. This was an important environmental justice priority for me, and I am so glad it crossed the finish line!
Budget Update: In the next couple of days we will receive the May Economic Forecast, which will be an important milestone for my colleagues and I on the Ways and Means committee. This is the last forecast that will come out before we make final budget decisions, and will inform our work through the rest of the session. You can view the forecast here when it is released on May 19th, or tune into the House Committee on Revenue for a presentation by the State Economists.
