Sponsored by Rep. Marty Wilde (D, HD-11)  Why is he against School Choice?

This bill prohibits student from enrolling in virtual public charter school located in school district in which student is not resident if student’s resident school district or education service district offers appropriate online instruction. Restricts school choice.

Personal Choice and Responsibility
Adds restrictions to school choice of virtual public charter schools to schools in the district where student is a resident if a virtual school or ESD offers online instructions 10 hours per week within the district. If school is not available, then out of district enrollment must receive approval if more than 3% of students are enrolled outside the school district.

Limited Government
Applies first to 2022-2023 school year, with exception for students who are already enrolled in virtual public charter schools and who would be enrolled in grade 12 for 2022-2023 school year.
