Requires school district to provide alternative method for assessment allowing parents to opt-out of state assessments.


Personal Choice
Parents have an unrestricted right to excuse their student from taking a statewide assessment and provided with an alternative method of showing proficiency for diploma purposes.
Fiscal Responsiblity
No fiscal impact. Alternative assessment would only apply to students that aren’t meeting state standards as current law excuses students that meet or exceed state standards.
Limited Government
Reduces state hold over parents, schools, and school boards.
Local Control
Allows local school boards more leeway to comply with parent’s rights and follow the law allowing opting out if student meets or exceeds state standards.
