These are the legislators who sponsored this bill to use your tax dollars to pay for illegal immigrants lawyers: Sen. Lieber (D, SD14), Jama (D, HD24), Dembrow (D, SD23), Manning (D, SD7), Wagner (D, SD19), Reps. Salinas (DHD38), Leon (D, HD22), Pham (D, HD46), and Valderrama (D, HD47).

WAYS & MEANS APPROPRIATED FUNDING AND REMOVED SIX MONTH PRIOR EXISTENCE FOR ORGANIZATION TO RECEIVE GRANTS.

This bill appropriates $4.5 million in tax revenue to pay for lawyers to help illegal immigrants, including for those convicted of felonies like rape and murder, stay in Oregon.

Fiscal Responsibility
Appropriates $4.5 million from General Fund to Judicial Department for purposes of transfer to Oregon State Bar. Limits spending to $10.5 million.

Limited Government
Records from the Oregon Department of Corrections show that at least 615 criminal illegal immigrants are in Oregon’s prison. That includes 142 convicted sexual abusers, 141 rapists, and 97 murderers. They are all eligible for a taxpayer-funded deportation attorney. Oregon’s sanctuary state status bans local law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration officials. Thus, for many illegal immigrants, the only reason they face the possibility of deportation is a previous run-in with law enforcement, where then federal agents can track their status through court records. The pool of illegal immigrants who would qualify for a taxpayer-subsidized lawyer would have already had encountered law enforcement.

  1. SCOTUS has already ruled that illegal aliens have no right to stay in the US. Why do Oregon legislators continue to push this agenda? Those legislators who continue to push this agenda should be removed from office for continuing to waste tax payor money.

  2. I do not want my taxpayer dollars spent to pay for attorneys for illegals that have committed felonies such as rape and murder. The legislators need to use our taxpayer dollars wisely. Do the legislators know it is illegal to cross into our country? Deport them if they have committed a crime.
