SB 997 Business to Reimburse State for Employee Insurance

This bill requires private businesses employing low income recipients working over 20 hours per week to reimburse state for a percentage of state assistance insurance, excludes public employers

Personal Choice and Responsibility
The action expressed in this bill will infringe on then personal choice of low income individuals as private employers will be hesitant in employing the low income state recipient as it will add to its cost.

Fiscal Responsibility
This action will create excessive administrative costs to both the employer and the state.  Private employers will seek part time employees that are not on public assistance as it will lower their operational costs.

Limited Government
The government is expanding its control over private businesses by attempting to shift some of the cost of public assistance insurances over to private businesses.
