HB 2310B Modifies Local Public Health Authority

VOTE: NO – Governor Signed

Sets the stage for the state government to begin taking over the functions of the local public health authorities.

Limited Government
The state is setting up for the assumption of local health issues. Modifies provisions under which Oregon Health Authority distributes to local public health authorities moneys for public health purposes.

Local Control
The bill allows for the removal of local control of public health and turning it over to the state – socialism? Authority should remain with the local government in order to be most responsive to the needs of the community. In order to best leverage resources, various counties have implemented cross-jurisdictional agreements for service delivery.

Free Markets
Further reduces the free market by centralizing decisions and power at the state level.
