HB 2928 Restricts the use of Riot Control Tools for Law Enforcement

Status (overview) of bill:https://olis.oregonlegislature.gov/liz/2021R1/Measures/Overview/HB2928

This bill regulates the use of chemical incapacitants, kinetic impact projectiles and sound devices by law enforcement agencies.

Personal Choice and Responsibility
Law enforcement needs all the tools they can get to maintain order in the face of violent mobs. They have shown great restraint with the tools they have access to and have suffered many more injuries than rioters have as a result.

Limited Government
Law enforcement have policed themselves well, including most departments ceasing use of carotid holds before laws forced them to. This bill would leave them no effective tools and no way to protect citizens from those who would do them, and the police, harm. Law enforcement must be able to stop the violent, or loss of life will result. “(c) A law enforcement agency may not use a sound device at a sound pressure level of 105 decibels or greater” – this would include standard sirens. “(d)(A) A person injured by a violation of this subsection may bring a private cause of action for economic and non-economic damages against the law enforcement agency committing the violation.”

Allows for far too much potential for injuries to innocent civilians and public/private properties.

  2. BJ says:

What about all the weapons the rioters use on police, why aren’t those being outlawed? Laws like this are beyond reason and stupidity. Representative Bynum and Noble, both Democrats were the chief sponsors of this bill; vote them out. Reps Campos, Dexter, Pham, Power, Reynolds and Valderrama, all Democrats, were regular sponsors of the bill, vote them all out.

A Nation whose foundation is built on “Laws without Emotion”, Ruled by Sovereign Citizens utilizing Servant Governments will Stand Everlasting. A Nation built on Anarchy, ruled by ” Emotional Majority ” will forever fair! Oregon, as it stands, will fail.
