This bill requires the Department of Environmental Quality to establish environmental regulations at least as stringent as those provided under federal law on January 19th, 2017.

Personal Choice and Responsibility
This bill defies the legislative oath of office to do what is best for Oregonians. It is always the option of a state to adopt laws more stringent than federal laws, so this bill is a statement of defiance and to lock in a political agenda without proving it's validity to the best interest to Oregon and Oregonians.

Limited Government
This bill is political positioning to defy President Trump's policies regardless if they have sound backing and may benefit Oregon. This bill would guarantee that no matter what happens at the federal level in the coming years, Oregon’s laws would be as stringent as the federal laws in existence as of January 1, 2017. This bill requires DEQ to adopt rules on all baseline federal standards that are at least as stringent for which the department had not adopted a corollary standard or regulation under state law before the effective date of this bill.
