This bill authorizes State Fire Marshal to dispatch firefighting resources in response to fire or wildfire burning on unprotected property.

Fiscal Responsibility
The State Fire Marshal may bill a property owner for the costs incurred by the State Fire Marshal in dispatching firefighting resources. If a bill sent to a property owner remains unpaid 90 days after being sent, the unpaid amount shall constitute a lien on the real property and on any timber salvaged. or harvested from the property.

Limited Government
Puts the Oregon State Fire Marshal in charge of 400,000 acres previously unprotected by fire agencies to prevent questions over who is responsible for fighting fires.

Local Control
Gives rural property owners some protection, but they may have to pay for services.
