SB 1561A – Helps streamline the rebuilding process for homes destroyed or made uninhabitable by disasters like wildfires, floods etc especially in farm and forest lands.
Requires local governments to approve restoration or replacement of dwellings rendered uninhabitable under an alternative process that is not a land use decision. Faster recovery for disaster victims, protects rural housing stock, allows alternative administrative process to speed up approvals and limits rebuild to no more than 25% larger than original.
Lots of folks from the Vida fire a few years back are still working through red tape to rebuild.
