Rep Owens (R, HD60) and Sen Mclain (R, SD30) will hold a Town Hall on Tues, July 29th at the Memorial Hall (513 Center St) in Lakeview. They’ll share updates from this year’s legislative session, take your questions, and hear directly from their community.
Might want to ask them why they wouldn’t walk out to break the quorum on last-minute bills passed that cost you more taxes and fees than ever before. Not to mention, bills like SB243 that make law abiding citizens into criminals. Why let those be passed?
Here’s what Rep. Owens said in a newsletter: “I’ve heard some ask: why didn’t you walk out? The truth is, walking out wouldn’t have stopped this bill. There are gun bills introduced every session and they would just be reintroduced in a special session. We need to be present, show up, and fight these fights head-on—because if we’re not in the room, our voices don’t count.”
News Flash – His voice doesn’t count when he shows up either!!!!! He didn’t walk out because the same bill will be introduced next session? Seriously? That’s his answer? So, he thinks it’s better to make law-abiding citizens into criminals NOW instead of possibly sometime later? WOW – SMH
