Rep. Nelson (D, HD44) will be hosting a Town Hall alongside Sen. Frederick (D, SD22) and Rep. Sanchez (D, HD43) on Fri., Sept. 13th at Portland Community College Cascade Moriarty Arts Humanities Building Auditorium (705 N Killingsworth St.) at 10am.
UPDATE: the Special Session Transportation Bill has been extended until Sept 17th. It was passed in the House. Tell Sen. Frederick to vote NO. This bill will increase your transportation and grocery bills (along with everything else we buy) going up even higher.
Rep. Nelson is one of the chief sponsors of House Resolution 3, which honors the history of Black drag in Oregon (in case you didn’t know, Rep. Nelson is himself LGBTQ+). He even had a Black Drag performance scheduled as the opening ceremonies in the State Capital. Rep. Sanchez was a regular sponsor of this resolution, as well. And as you probably know, it passed. The performance made national news too – another first for Oregon.
They’ll share legislative updates and answer questions. Here’s some other things they accomplished in this session for you too…
- Higher costs of living for everyone because of the higher taxes and fees they passed
- Turning law abiding citizens into criminals with more of their gun restriction bills which does nothing to protect citizens
- Banned retailers and restaurants from providing single-use plastic checkout bags, utensils, and condiment packaging.
- Will now require schools to teach climate change
- Will pour the largest amount of your tax dollars in state history (11.4 billion) into Oregon’s failing schools but did nothing to improve the outcome.
