A joint Town Hall will be held on Sat. Aug 16th at the Jackie Husen Park (10955 NW Reeves St), 10 am. Rep. Watanabe (D, HD34) and Sen. Reynolds (D, SD17) will be talking about the public transportation agencies being stretched thin. They probably won’t mention that the Republicans offered ways to take care of this without raising more taxes and fees on Oregonians, but the Democrats refused to consider any Republican solutions (did you see the article about ODOT getting funds from DMV making millions by selling your information?)
So guess what? The Special Session Gov. Kotek has arranged, starting Aug 29th is for implementing those extra taxes and fees they weren’t able to get through during the regular 2025 session. And since they have the majority of members, they can pass it without any of the Republicans voting for it – isn’t that great! Too bad there’s some Republicans who insist on giving them a quorum which enables these taxes and fees to be passed.
