Died in Committee

Introduced HB 2772

Provides that certain grants and distributions of moneys must be awarded directly to public charter school, or must be transferred to public charter school in amount equal to general purpose grant distribution percentage or based on other agreement.

Personal Choice
Current wording is strengthened from “may” to “shall” or “must”. This ensures school districts will send monies intended for charter schools to charter schools.
Fiscal Responsiblity
This bill ensures money intended for educational purposes reaches the students intended.
Limited Government
This bill is neutral on this topic.
Local Control
This bill ensures the proper monies reach schools with more local control, because charter schools usually have a closer relation to parents than traditional schools.
Free Markets
This bill balances the playing field by requiring school districts to pass through monies due to charter schools. It puts charter schools on an even playing field with traditional public schools.
