The Act would require that an urban renewal plan or an amendment to a plan be approved by voters. Requires the approval of an urban renewal plan by the electors of a municipality proposing a plan or a substantial amendment to a plan.
HB 3499 requires the approval of an urban renewal plan by the electors of a municipality proposing a plan or a substantial amendment to a plan. Currently Urban Renewal Districts can revive a dormant plan without consent of the people. This would allow property taxes to be raised without a vote.
This is a common sense proposed law that allows the voters to vote on whether to revive a dormant urban renewal district.
