The Act changes some laws that apply to a person’s estate after the person dies. Modifies evidence required to establish parentage in a probate proceeding. Exempts certain specific bequests from the asset limits for simple estates. Restricts application of harmless error provisions to nonelectronic writings that were signed by the decedent or at the decedent’s direction. Modifies court procedures regarding discovery when there is a contested issue in a probate proceeding.

The modification allows a written change or writing of a will without witnesses and the decedent’s name can be signed by a third party with the signer’s own name. The legislature has added restrictions about unlawfully taking advantage of seniors, so why is it not of concern after death? There is only the word of the third party whether the decedent gave permission – no evidence is required, which means there is no evidence it was even signed before the decedent’s death..
