Rep. Farrah Chaichi (D, HD35), who is a proud a member of the Portland Democratic Socialists of America (What is Democratic Socialism?) will be having a Constituent Coffee on Sat, July 11th, from 11 – 1 at Tall Fir Coffee (14647 SW Millikan Way, Beaverton).
She’s looking forward to supporting legislation in the 2027 Long Session to help make universal healthcare a reality for working families. One of the mandates for the legislature will be to design publicly funded (meaning you pay for this through your taxes), statewide health plan options that guarantee coverage for all Oregon residents (Oregon Universal Health Plan Recommendations also includes residents regardless of immigration status). Why did she only say it’s a healthcare reality for working families? Oh, maybe she means they’re the only ones paying this healthcare bill with their Oregon income taxes.
