SB 1519A Adjusts wages for the disabled

SB 1519 – Changes the percentage of Average Weekly Wage (AWW) paid for Temporary Total Disability and for Permanent Total Disability by increasing it for lower incomes and decreasing it for middle to higher incomes.

WAYS & MEANS TO SENATE FLOOR – CONTACT LEGISLATORS FOR FLOOR VOTE IN BOTH HOUSES

Although it is good to increase the percentage for lower incomes for TTD’s it actually drops the percentage for PTD’s. People who are “middle “income or higher, usually have higher mortgages on homes (since they can afford to buy them), and losing a greater portion of their paychecks while on disability could cause them to lose their homes/cars, etc. It should have increased the rate for all income levels. This will likely also increase insurance costs, as payments would increase.
