Directs Oregon Department of Education (ODE) to design and give plaques to schools that have benefited from Senator Peter Courtney’s support of funding seismic safety for schools.

Directs the ODE to design and distribute memorial plaques to schools in honor of Senator Peter Courtney’s contributions in supporting seismic rehabilitation funding. Directs recipients to display plaques at the front entrance.

Where are the “Where As” describing the need for this bill? This is a waste of money and time. Is it a punishment on schools accepting seismic grants? It certainly isn’t recognition that Peter Courtney would cherish. You don’t force recognition, and it sets a president that no one wants. Peter Courtney did some good things, but so did many others, so it turns into using his recognition for a political statement, which is against school board guidelines.
