They want to put students in buckets of subjective opinions. They already rate student according to the parents’ income to categorize them as “economically disadvantaged.” Equity opportunity is a crystal ball analysis of whether a student or group of students will take advantage of opportunities and apply themselves.
It takes more than grades to evaluate opportunities and barriers.

This bill requires Department of Education to conduct study to determine feasibility of collecting student course grade history in grades 6 through 12.
The vagueness makes for poor legislation. Since this statement is singular, “collecting student course grade history” that it isn’t a collective report, but on individual students. Protecting individual student information beyond the local school is important. Tracking individual records can only lead to penguin-holing students into career paths and destroying initiative.

This is a very “BAD” bill, because it’s vagueness makes for poor legislation. Since this statement is singular, “collecting student course grade history” —— it isn’t a collective report, but solely focused on individual students.
Protecting all areas of an individual student’s information should be on their parents only and not DOE or any segment of our State government.
This bill would only lead to penguin-holing students into career paths and destroying initiative which what the DOE is doing right now.
