SB 820 changes when the parole board is required to classify some sex offenders.

At the request of Governor Kotek, repeals Oregon laws that requires registration/reporting of sex offenders, reduces parole board supervision of sex offenders and eliminates the deadline for the parole board to assess the risk level of sex offenders released into society.

Not only are we the #1 state in the nation for registered sex offenders per capita, we are way out in front of the runner-up and 1.7 times the numbers of the third place state.
Enables Oregon to skip leveling (assessing the risk of the offender committing another sex offense) its 18,000-offender backlog of sex offenders.
